Mortgage loan is US is secured by an intending borrower by a process called the origination. This process is a multi–step one and involves submission of financial papers to the bank, lender or the underwriter. Although many financial institutions are offering no-doc or low-doc loans, these are meant for people who carry excellent credit subject to some minimal financial criterion. For others with average or low credit borrowers, a mortgage broker can be a very good option.

A mortgage broker works with many lenders and thus has a greater chance of getting a borrower the most suited loan. Moreover, such brokers take care of most paperwork like collecting documentation and submitting the application to the lenders. This takes off a huge work load of the borrower and makes the process efficient. A mortgage broker also works with online mortgage lenders to make things efficient and easier. Having a mortgage broker today is a boon to many home buyers. Although the role of a broker is limited, he is very helpful to complete process quickly and efficiently due to relationships and expertise in the industry that a normal home buyer may not have.

The role of the broker ends once the mortgage deal is signed. The responsibility of the buyer from hereon is to fulfill his financial obligations towards the mortgage in the form of monthly installments. Once these responsibilities are not taken care of, a process of repossession may come into the picture. Avoiding such chaos is highly recommended to the borrower in order to keep credibility and home secure.
